Cyber Essentials aims to help organisations of all sizes, implement basic levels of protection against a cyber attack, demonstrating to their customers and partners that they take cyber security seriously.
Cyber Essentials - an independently verified self assessment. Organisations assess themselves against five basic security controls and a qualified assessor verifies the information provided.
Organisations that undertake Cyber Essentials are encouraged to re-certify at least once a year and, where appropriate, progress their security.
Five basic controls within Cyber Essentials were chosen because, when implemented correctly, they will help to protect against internet-based attackers,
- Boundary firewalls and internet gateways
- Secure configuration
- Access control
- Malware protection
- Patch management
Since October 2014 Cyber Essentials has been mandatory for suppliers of Government contracts which involve handling personal information and providing some IT products and services.
- Protect your organisation against common cyber threats
- Show your customers you take this issue seriously
- Enable you to bid for Government contracts
